Indie’go World Music Festival cancelled

August 8th, 2010 by

Only last week Monte Carlow hoped the Indie’Go Music Festival would be a success.  After only one night of the festival, the event was cancelled.  Why?  It is still not clear.  Many Twitter and Facebook accounts claim it was due to poor turn out.  The only official comment from the organisers appears on the Facebook page:

“PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to circumstances beyond our control Indie’Go World Music Festival has had to cancel the event. We sincerely regret and apologise that this has had to happen. Due to the circumstances we would like all public not to come to the festival site. Information regarding refunds will be available from the website www.indiegoworldmusic.ie in the coming days.”

We await official word of what happened.  Whatever the reason, Carlow has lost what could have been am interesting and valuable event.

Count down to The Indie’Go World Music Festival

August 2nd, 2010 by

The opening day of The Indie’Go World Music Festival is nearly upon us. On Friday 6th August the village of Fenagh will host the very first Indie’Go World Music Festival over three days. There is a diverse range of acts to suit all, including the kiddies. CLEERE is an act that will have a local interest.

The success of this festival could have a big impact on Carlow. Short term, local businesses will have some additional foot fall around the county. Long term, having a successful music festival could not only help with Carlows identity but also attract further cultural events.

Buy a ticket, spread the word.

Win free passes to Indie’go World Music Festival launch night

May 18th, 2010 by

The Indie’go World Music Festival takes place in Fenagh, Carlow on 6th, 7th and 8th of August. Fenagh is not the most likely of venues for a music festival but it certainly adds to the quirkiness of the event. Not only will visitors have three days of indie and world music, there are also many non music events such as storytelling on offer.

Monte Carlow will be covering the festival in more detail in the coming weeks, but first, the official launch night takes place this Friday 21st May at The Hub (part of The Temple) in Carlow Town. We have two free passes to the launch night up for grabs. The launch night begins at 7pm with a champagne reception and some light finger food. The remainder of the night will be a taste of what the festival is all about with various acts taking to the stage.

If you want a free pass, post a comment here or on the Facebook page and we will pick the winner on Thursday.

UPDATE Tom Doyle is the winner. Have a good night Tom!
